Puno – Chucuito – Luquina – Taquile – Uros Island 2 days 1 night
- Description
- Incluye
We traveled in a private vehicle to Chucuito, the former site of the Royal Treasury during the colonial era. In its main square, we can see the Sundial, which tells the time accurately, as well as the pillory, the roll, and the unique stone fountain.
Also located here is the Cross of Sacrifice, where the Inquisition dispensed justice, and the colonial church with frescoes and paintings from the region, belonging to the Cusco School. Next, we visited the Temple of Fertility (Inca Uyo), which contains numerous polished stone pieces and was used as a sacred site for fertility rituals.
We'll also visit a trout farm, located one kilometer from the main square. Then, we'll continue to the Chucuito Peninsula, in the community of Luquina, a one-hour drive away. Upon arrival, a family will welcome us into their home, where we'll enjoy a traditional lunch. In the afternoon, we'll participate in agricultural activities, hike up hilltops to watch the sunset, and try our hand at traditional fishing in rowboats with the family. We'll have a typical dinner at the family's home and spend the night there.
The next day, after breakfast, we'll take a boat to Taquile Island, a one-hour trip. Upon arrival, we'll walk for about 30 minutes to the village. We'll have time for explanations from the guide, visit the artisan center, and then go to a local restaurant. After a traditional lunch, we'll descend the stairs and board the boat to visit the Uros Islands. We'll tour the islands for approximately one hour.
Arrival in Puno at 5:00 PM.
