Puno – Pukara – Lampa Full Day Excursion
- Itinerary
Starting this excursion, preferably in the morning, we depart from the hotel by road to Juliaca. From there, we continue north on a road that leads to Pukara (a 45-minute drive), 61 km from Juliaca, along the paved highway that connects Puno and Cusco. There, we will visit the Kalasaya ruins, located one kilometer from the town of Pukara.
This site has two areas: a ceremonial area with nine pyramids and an urban area.
We will see the remains of underground structures. The complex dates back to 200 BC and covers 500 hectares. We will also visit the Pucará Museum, where you can admire beautiful monoliths and ceramics.
The inhabitants of the Pukara culture excelled in astronomical, architectural, and hydraulic engineering. Travelers will find that Pukara is a town of artisans and potters.
Disfrutarán de los famosos «Toritos de Pucará» en un taller que abre sus puertas para mostrar el arte y la tradición que han heredado.
The tour continues to Lampa along a dirt road. During the journey, you'll enjoy beautiful views of the Andean highlands. The trip takes about 45 minutes. Upon arrival, we'll go to a local restaurant to sample typical regional dishes.
Lampa, known as the Pink City of Seven Wonders, boasts attractions such as the Lampa Bridge, one of the most beautiful in the region; the Church of Santiago Apóstol; a replica of Michelangelo's "La Pietà"; a chinchilla farm; and the queñua forests, typical of the Peruvian highlands. Afterward, we returned to Juliaca to take the road back to Puno.
