Chucuito – Aramu wall / Mystic tour 1 full day
- Description
Chucuito is located 18 km (about 20 minutes) from Puno. There stands an Inca-era structure with large, polished stone blocks on the exterior. Inside, another wall with smaller carved stones can be seen; this is the Inca Uyo. Several interpretations have been proposed. This space, measuring 20.10 by 10.36 meters, has its entrance oriented 35 degrees northeast, coinciding with the prevailing winds from the lake.
It has been observed that the outer and inner edges of the entrance create a line running east-west and north-south. These lines coincide with the corners of the enclosure, suggesting that the structure may have been designed as a geodetic-astronomical observatory, allowing for the identification of optimal times for agricultural activities.
About 18 km away (approx. 1 hour and 30 min), stands a unique wonder of the region: the Aramu Muru Gate, a carved stone portico 7 meters wide by 7 meters high.
Local residents say it's the entrance to the "Temple of the Illumination of the Gods Wiracocha, Merú" or "Hayu Marca." They tell unusual stories about this gate, such as how on certain afternoons it becomes semi-transparent, revealing a lit-up city.
Furthermore, they recount that by placing both hands on the inner sides of the stone door frame and resting your head in a crevice, you can experience strange sensations, such as visions of fire, musical sounds, or tunnels that pass through the mountain.
Although many people have tried to perceive these experiences, only a few have noticed anything similar.
Locals consider Aramu Muru as a gateway in itself, and humans as the key that can cross it when in tune with the sun.
The tour will last approximately 6 hours.
